Potions
Brewing is the process for making potions. You drink potions to give you temporary effects.
If you are in survival you will need some equipment to start brewing:

If you want to start brewing you need some base ingredients, and base potions:
Base Ingredients
- Nether Wart: grows on soul sand. Found under staircases, and in loot chests in Nether Fortresses.
- Glowstone dust: mine glowstone in the Nether to get it.
- Redstone: found in redstone ore blocks.
- Fermented Spider Eye: Spiders may drop their eyes when killed. Craft it from spider eye, sugar, and brown mushroom.
Base Potions
- Awkward potion ( used in all potions, except potion of weakness ): add Nether Wart, to three water bottles, to make three awkward potions.
- Thick potion ( currently does not have any use ): add glowstone dust to three water bottles, to make three dust potions.
- Mundane potion ( currently does not have any use ): add redstone to three water bottles, to make three mundane potions.
- Potion of Weakness: add fermented spider eye to three water bottles, to make three potions of weakness.
Now you can start brewing potions. Use the potions you brew to help you survive.
